This Sunday the Stevens Pass community took a huge blow. 3 of the most well respected and loved skiers were taken from us in an avalanche outside the resort. Chris Rudolph was the best of us all, a valued friend and responsible for helping Hot Lava out in basically everything we have ever done. We will never forget our friend that we all looked up to in every way possible. Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of Chris Rudolph, Jim Jack and Johnny Brenan.
Here is what Stevens had to write about these gentleman. “The Stevens Pass family is deeply saddened by the loss of 3 extraordinary men. Johnny Brenan – an enthusiastic Leavenworth local, events host and former ski patroller. Jim Jack – a constant positive force, a local legend and pillar within the freeski community. And Stevens Pass’ own Marketing Director, Chris Rudolph – a man of endless charisma and charm, whose vision and dedication to Stevens Pass helped shape the mountain we all love today. We ask that you extend your thoughts, prayers and positive vibes to their family and friends.”
This is crap in comparison to the video below, but i still like it. Ryan and I built our first jump of the season while Cory was out filming the last shot of the golden boy (Manuel) in the cabin edit. The day after we built another one and Jordan and Cory joined us for photos and filming. They got to document Ian get two bangers, me landing one thing and having a bad fall trying another double front. Here’s a look at that jump before it got mostly bomb-holed

You can see the footage from this jump in the movie!
Here’s the 2nd Webisode for our upcoming film Community. Were all really excited about this, Cory did a great job!
Jordan and Ryan have been exploring lately. Lots of early up and late back missions, snowmobiling and long hikes. Here’s some of the cool locations they’ve been finding around Stevens.
Jordan and Ian in Behind the Photo Episode 2. Pumped for these guys getting the shot published not only once but twice!
Vote for Jordan and I so he can win another camera bag for his light setup.
Myself river riding shot by Jordan Ingmire.
Overnight mountaintop cabin missison with the posse. We’ll be filming some interviews for our upcoming webisode that will be out in a few days
Will Jackways last season shot by Jordan. Its nuking really really hard and this gif puts me in the right mindset for what we’ll be doing from here on out. There’s a couple of feet of blower out there, with about 5 more expected in the next week. Pumped.
Ryan Waiste. We picked up a generator and lights a bit ago, this hip session was the second time we used them and it was pretty awesome. Were all really excited for all the possibilities of night shoots this year.
Click the link to visit YoBeat and vote for one of Jordan’s photos from last season. Both photos are his, one of me and another of our friend Forrest Burki. Choose your favorite (mine)!
Filming has been going well lately. The serious lack of powder this season has been making it hard for us to get all the rust off and start getting any bangers, but those will come soon enough. Here is Ian’s best shot of the season so far.
